Scholarships and funding

External financial aid

A large number of external entities and institutions offer financial aid options to students who want to enrol on one of our master programs and postgraduate courses. If you want to apply for any of these financial aid options you will have to deal directly with the awarding entity. These options are compatible with any other program-specific aid option of your master program or postgraduate course but not with the Talent Scholarships.

Spanish Public Financial Aid

  • Catalan Government Grants: The Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya) biannually offers grants for postgraduate and master’s courses in the arts, philosophical sciences and new creative sectors. The aim is to promote the professional training of creative people in all the artistic fields, through taking part in courses and specialized training activities.
  • Spanish State Scholarships: The Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport publishes an annual contest for Spanish students who wish to study an official master program. In some autonomous communities there is a government body, dependent on the regional government that is in charge of processing Ministry scholarships; in Catalonia this body is the Agency for Management of University and Research Grants of Catalonia (AGAUR).
  • Basque Country Scholarships: The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport allocates a part of the Basque's Country budget for educational scholarships. These scholarships are aimed at Basque students who wish to carry out postgraduate study in any of the autonomous communities.
  • Exemptions: As stated in the Decree of the Regional Government of Catalonia (in Spanish), Spanish students who take an official master's degree andfulfill the required criteria may benefit from the following special public price exemptions.
    • Large family exemption
    • Disability exemption
    • Exemption for victims of terrorist attacks
    • Exemption for victims of gender-based violence

As an affiliated centre of Pompeu Fabra University, these exemptions will be applied to the amount that corresponds to the academic supervision fee, which, for the academic year 2015-2016 is 33% of the prices stated in paragraph 4 of Annex 1 of Decree 365/2011 of 12 July (article 2.3 of Decree 118/2015 on Regional Government prices for the academic year 2015-2016). You can calculate the exemption that you are entitled to by using the following formula: price per credit (31.42 euros, in the case of our Masters programs) x number of credits x 50% or 100% (depending on your specific situation) x 33%.

If you request and are awarded a general scholarship for university studies which is offered each year by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the latter is not compatible with any of the exemptions set out in the Official Rules regarding prices listed previously. Therefore you will need to decline the exemption or the scholarship depending upon your preferences. If this is the case, please contact the Administration Department ( in order for them to provide you with the appropriate withdrawal form.
