Catalonia’s first psychosocial intervention team for emergency victims is established

The Catalan Ministry of the Interior and the Professional Association of Social Workers of Catalonia (TSCAT) have signed an agreement to ensure the involvement of social worker teams and the offer of psychosocial support to those affected by emergencies or catastrophes.

Montse Mas, director of the Postgraduate Programme in Psychosocial Intervention in Situations of Emergency and Catastrophes, will be the emergency project coordinator.

Students on this programme, who meet the requirements, will form part of the team for psychosocial intervention in emergencies, when they are called upon by Civil Protection. This committee is actually starting its selection process for registration by professionals; however, it should be noted that the first team comprises students from the first year of the postgraduate course.
