Europe cites the Master’s in Literary and Audiovisual Translation as a good example of a translator training programme

The European Platform for Literary Translation (PETRA) has just published the document Towards New Conditions for Literary Translation in Europe. The PETRA Recommendations.

In the “Education and Training of the Literary Translator” section, the report cites our Master’s in Literary and Audiovisual Translation (IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra) as an example of a translator training programme and places special emphasis on the fact that the teachers are professional translators, proofreaders, editors and university lecturers.

This publication is the result of a conference held in Brussels between 1 and 3 December 2011, which brought together almost 70 organisations linked to literary translation from 34 different countries. PETRA’s main goal is to promote and support literary translation and literary translators in Europe, putting improvement initiatives in place for the field. The recently-published document is available in hard copy and will be distributed by the different literary translators’ associations in each country.
