The UPF debates the independence of Catalonia


The Pompeu Fabra University wants to contribute to the political debate on the future of Catalonia through a series of multidisciplinary debates focused on science, law, economics and the humanities.

The conference The independence of Catalonia, under debate will be held in four afternoon and evening sessions on 30 and 31 January and 5 and 6 February 2013 in the Auditorium of the Ciutadella Campus, Calle Ramon Trias Fargas, 25-27 (Barcelona).

The sessions will discuss:

  • Economic aspects of the independence of Catalonia
  • Historical-cultural aspects of the debate on the independence of Catalonia
  • Legal aspects of a referendum on the independence of Catalonia
  • Political aspects of the debate on the independence of Catalonia

The debates are intended to go beyond fixed political positions and will offer arguments with academic and scientific rigour, pluralism of opinions and exchange of ideas.
