Antonio Orejudo: “A good writer is someone who does more erasing than writing”

Antonio Orejudo defines himself as a social novelist who also has proficiency as a soldier, a disobedient child, and an incisive critic. These three figures, according to him, are necessary for his profession. “The possessing of discipline when writing, the graceless nature of a child, and the courage to erase and discard your own work, in my opinion are essential qualities in a writer”. Orejudo gave the opening conference “Advice to a young writer” for UPF-IDEC’s Master in Literary Creation. “Antonio Orejudo represents the best of recent generations of Spanish literature and much can be learnt from his experience as a writer”, pointed out Jorge Carrión, academic co-director of the Master.
