The results of the ranking were made public at the Young Universities Summit which took place at Dublin City University this year. During the conference, Phil Baty, rankings editor, also announced that UPF will be the venue for the next summit, which will take place in Barcelona on 6 and 7 April 2016.

The closing of this year's summit on 30 April includes the participation of UPF's rector, Jaume Casals, who sees the hosting of the summit in 2016 as a very positive thing: "Holding this summit will not just contribute to international projection of UPF, it is also an excellent opportunity to increase the level of collective awareness and improve the public's perception of the task that we are genuinely dealing with in a university like ours and in young universities in general. The summit needs to become a sphere in which we, the institutions can discuss the challenges and opportunities that we must face in the coming years".

The organization of this event at UPF has the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the University as a backdrop. Within the framework of this a wide range of activities will be organized during the 2015-2016 academic year, centred on three cornerstones of particular relevance to UPF's future: internationalisation, alumni and the public presentation of its Strategic Plan.

Six Spanish universities in the ranking

By country, Australia is the territory that has more universities in the Top 100 Young Universities (16); followed shortly by the United Kingdom (15), and by a larger margin by Germany (7), the USA (7), Spain (6) and France (5).

The six Spanish universities which are better classified are, in this order, UPF (positioned 12th in the world ranking); The Autonomous University of Barcelona (29th), The Autonomous University of Madrid (46th), The Rovira i Virgili University (80th) The University of Vigo (88th) and The Polytechnic University of Valencia (97th).
