How to Access the Degree Based on Your Academic Background

The admission pathway may vary depending on your academic background. Here, you'll find the key information you need to know which steps to follow, in accordance with the procedures established by the Government of Catalonia and the University.

The admission pathway may vary depending on your academic background:

    What is your academic background?
    Spanish Baccalaureate Studies

To access the Bachelor in Sustainable Business Administration (BSBA) with a Spanish Baccalaureate, you'll need to follow the university admission process and pass the PAU or EBAU exams if you've studied at an educational institution in another Spanish autonomous community.

Remember that the minimum score required to pass the PAU exams is 4.

The official subjects with a weighting of 0.2 (the highest weighting) for the BSBA are:

    • Mathematics (Modality or Specific Phase)
    • Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences
    • Business Operations and Business Model Design (formerly Business Economics)
    • Geography
    • Biology
    • Physics
    • Chemistry

The PAU pre-registration and enrolment deadlines are published on the Canal d’Universitats.

If you need further guidance on the PAU exams or university pre-registration, you can also contact the University Admissions Office: Via Laietana, 2, ground floor, 08003 Barcelona · +34 93 223 03 23 / +34 93 223 25 91 · Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Higher Vocational Education and Training (CFGS)

To access the Bachelor in Sustainable Business Administration (BSBA) after completing a Higher Vocational Education and Training programme (CFGS), you'll need to follow the university admission process. If you wish to improve your admission score and achieve a score of up to 14 points, you can take the specific subject exams of the PAU or EBAU if you've studied at an educational institution in another Spanish autonomous community.

Baccalaureate Studies from EU Member States or Countries with Reciprocal Agreements, and European Baccalaureate or International Baccalaureate Qualifications

This admission pathway is intended for students who have studied in European Union countries or in non-EU countries that have reciprocal agreements with Spain. You must meet the academic requirements established by your country's education system for admission to its universities. Check the list of eligible countries below.

If you apply through this admission pathway, you won't be able to apply through another pathway during the same academic year, nor can you apply through this pathway if you have previously gained admission to a Spanish university.

The process begins by obtaining university admission accreditation for Spain through UNEDasiss, followed by university pre-registration. If you wish to enter the first year of a bachelor's degree in Catalonia, you'll need to complete this process through the University Admissions Office.

You won't need to have your Baccalaureate qualification officially recognised in Spain, nor will you be required to take the PAU/EBAU exams. However, you should bear in mind that your admission score will be calculated on a scale of 10, rather than 14. If you want to improve your admission score, you can take the specific phase of the PAU exams at any Spanish university or sit the UNED Specific Competency Tests (PCE). In Catalonia, you can check the PAU exam schedule on the Canal Universitats website.

The official subjects with a weighting of 0.2 (the highest weighting) for the BSBA are:

    • Mathematics (Modality or Specific Phase)
    • Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences
    • Business Operations and Business Model Design (formerly Business Economics)
    • Geography
    • Biology
    • Physics
    • Chemistry

Make sure you check the deadlines for requesting your UNEDasiss accreditation, published on its official website, as well as the PAU pre-registration and enrolment deadlines published on the Canal d’Universitats.

    *Countries and education systems:
Germany, Andorra, Austria, European Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate, Belgium, Bulgaria, Colombia, Croatia, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, China and Cyprus.

If you've studied in a country that is not part of the EU and does not have a reciprocal agreement with Spain, you'll need to obtain official recognition of your Baccalaureate qualification. If you live in Catalonia, you must complete this process through the Department of Education. If you live outside Catalonia, you'll need to do so through the Spanish Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports.

It's important to start this process as soon as possible because, for example, to apply for university pre-registration in June, you'll already need to have obtained your official recognition certificate (you won't be able to apply with a provisional registration document).

The next step is to pass the university entrance exams. You can choose between:

    • Taking the exams at a Catalan university (PAU) or another Spanish university (EBAU). You must take the general phase and can optionally take the specific phase. If you wish to take the exams at a Catalan university, you can find all the relevant information at this link.
    • Taking the UNEDasiss Specific Competency Tests (PCE). In this case, please note that you must take the following four compulsory exams:
      1) Spanish Language and Literature.
      2) Foreign Language (you can choose between German, English, French and Italian).
      3) History or History of Philosophy (you can choose either subject).
      4) One compulsory subject from your chosen specialisation (in this case, we recommend Mathematics or Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences).
You can also choose to take two additional subjects to improve your admission score. The grades obtained in these subjects will be taken into account when calculating your admission score, provided that these subjects are eligible for weighting in Catalonia.

Make sure you check the deadlines for applying for official recognition of your qualification with the relevant authorities, as well as the PAU pre-registration and enrolment deadlines published on the Canal d’Universitats.

If you're applying through the admission pathway for applicants over 25

You can gain admission by passing the university entrance exam and then completing university pre-registration.

If you're applying through the admission pathway for applicants over 40 with work or professional experience

You can gain admission by passing the entrance assessment and then completing university pre-registration.

For more details, visit the Canal d’Universitats. If you need further guidance on university entrance exams or pre-registration, you can also contact the University Admissions Office: Via Laietana, 2, ground floor, 08003 Barcelona · +34 93 223 03 23 / +34 93 223 25 91 · Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

If you're applying through the admission pathway for applicants over 45

You can gain admission by passing an entrance exam and a personal interview. Afterwards, you'll need to complete university pre-registration.

I already have a university degree

If you already hold a university degree and want to start another bachelor's degree, you'll need to complete university pre-registration through the university admissions portal. You can find more information on the Canal Universidades.

University graduates have a reserved quota of places. If you hold a foreign university degree and wish to have it officially recognised in Spain, you'll need to complete the relevant procedure through the Spanish Ministry of Education.

To apply through this admission pathway, you must have a minimum of 30 credits recognised or validated towards the degree you wish to enter, depending on whether your previous studies were completed in Spain or abroad, respectively. Under no circumstances can the Final Degree Project be recognised.
You must also have completed at least 50% of the first-year credits of your original degree programme during your first year of enrolment at your previous university. In addition, you must not have exceeded the maximum number of examination attempts permitted under your previous university's academic progression regulations.
Finally, you must meet the requirements established by the bachelor's degree regulations regarding credit recognition limits.

A specific admissions call is published each year, setting out the application deadlines, admission criteria, available places and timetable. If you don't meet the requirements, you'll need to apply through the general admission pathway.
